Key Features Ceramage (Shofu)
A hand-layered composite that integrates zirconium silicate with an organic polymer matrix.
- Contains 73% zirconium silicate micro-ceramic filler
- Offers light transmission similar to natural teeth
- Can be repaired chairside
- Highly polishable for a natural finish
Lava Ultimate (3M)
Developed using Resin Nano Ceramic (RNC) technology—an advanced material class combining the benefits of ceramics with a highly cross-linked resin matrix.
- Among the most translucent all-ceramic restorations available today, offered in HT and LT versions
- Can be repaired chairside
- Highly polishable
Contraindications
- Not recommended for long-span bridges or in areas where bonding is not feasible.
Clinical Handling / Preparation Design
- Minimum occlusal clearance: 1.5 mm
- Minimum isthmus width: 1.5 mm
- 90º occlusal margins
- Rounded internal line angles
- Shoulder / 90º margin
Cementation
- Use dual-cure resin or adhesive resin cement.
- Clean with water, dry, and then silanate the restoration.
- Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Adjusting & Polishing
- Adjust with fine diamonds and polish using composite polishing rotary instruments and composite polishing paste (e.g., CompoSite Polishing Paste – Intraoral by Shofu).
